Special Town Board Meeting

Tuesday, May 26, 2009
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Roe at 8:30am. Those present included, Chairman Sally Roe, Supervisor Mike Gengler, Supervisor Jerry Klassy, and Patrolman Roger Zurfluh.
The minutes from the Special Board Meeting help on April 28th were approved as read.
The Road work bids for Purintun Road were opened. Bids were received from Bartelt Enterprises for paver patching and crackfilling and from the Green County Highway Department for paver patching and sealcoating. The Board discussed the bids when opened. Mike moved to accept Bartelt Enterprises’ paver patching and crackfilling bids for $6372.49 and $9900.00, respectively and accept Green County’s sealcoating bid for $16996.00 (choosing not to apply extra oil) for Purintun Road. Sally seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Roger Zurfluh mentioned Pfeuti Road at the intersection of Purintun and Pfeuti Road needs some blacktop, especially at Jeff Pfeuti’s driveway entrance. Roger felt that we should do this when the paver patching on Purintun is done.
Jerry stated the ditch cleaning work is scheduled to be done the second week of June. Roger stated there is an area on Zurfluh Road near Fiedler Road that needs to be cleaned out when ditch work is done. The Board discussed making sure landowners will be notified before work is done. Jerry and Sally will take care of that. Roger will call Diggers’ Hotline before cleaning is done to mark out underground lines.
The Board noted for future paver patching bids we need to specify we need the bids to say the tons to be applied, the square foot to be covered, average thickness, and if tack coat will be applied. This will make it easier to compare bids.
Sally also stated that Tim Feller has said we can pile the gravel/blacktop from Schneeberger Road on his property by his bins when that project is done. Tim just asks if trucks are in and out of there that any extra gravel needed for that be put in.
Roger stated he has gotten info on a new Berti Mower. He would like to demo a mower. The Board told Roger to demo a Berti on our current tractor and to get information on trading our current mower for this type of mower. This way information is available after this year’s roadwork is done or for next year’s budget.
Mike indicated we should be posting meeting minutes on our website and put a short letter in the paper stating minutes will be on our website since our meeting our not covered by the paper anymore. Sally said she would put something in the paper and start putting meeting minutes on the website for both town board and plan commission.
The Board and Roger then went to the town garage to look at the shed for maintenance needed. After a walk around the shed, the board instructed Roger to get bids (in addition to the two he already had) for a new door and to get bids for gutters and downspouts.
Jerry moved to adjourn the meeting. Sally seconded the motion. Motion carried, meeting adjourned at 10:44am.
